Architectural Control Committee

Considering an addition to your home, putting on a new roof, erecting a garage, shed or fence? Don't Forget: the Gates Head Architectural Control Committee is required to review your plans and will be happy to do so rapidly.

The Gates Head Declaration of Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions cover many projects of this kind. These covenants are put in place to keep our neighborhood consistent in appearance and one in which you will take pride in being part. In general:

Siding:

  • Beaded wood or Masonite

  • Beaded Vinyl siding (smooth siding not permitted)

  • Beaded Hardie plank 

Roofing:

  • Cedar Shake

  • Slate

  • Composite Grand Manor Shingle by Certainteed

Outbuildings: No structures may be erected on any lot other than one detached single-family dwelling. Storage sheds must be of the same type and quality construction as the dwelling on any respective Lot. No prefabricated metal outbuildings are permitted.

Paint: All exterior paint colors of residences and outbuildings, including doors, shutters and trim, must conform to traditional colonial paint colors. No aluminum siding shall be permitted.

Roofs: All roofs must be hand split cedar shake, composite Grand Manor Shingle by Certainteed, or slate.

Doors: All exterior doors must conform to colonial styling and colors.
